Complete Summary of The Raven and the Fox

The poem describes a raven sitting on a branch of a tree with a piece of food in his beak. A clever fox named Reynard notices the food and wants to get it.

The fox begins to praise the raven. He tells the raven that he is a very handsome bird and that his feathers are beautiful. He also says that if the raven sings, all the birds in the forest will call him their king.

The raven becomes proud after hearing these sweet words. Forgetting that his voice is just a croak, he opens his beak to sing. As soon as he opens his mouth, the piece of food falls down.
