"A House, A Home" Poem Summary NCERT Class 6 :

The poem "A House, A Home "is about the difference between a house and a home. We sometimes consider both to be similar or alternative to each other. But that's wrong. The poet clearly differentiates a house from a home. A 'house' refers to something material while 'home' has emotional significance.
The poet argues that a house is made of bricks, stone, wood . A House is defined by its window and window glass, eaves, chimneys, tile floors or roof and doors. On the other hand 'a home' has a deeper significance. We create a house into a home. Human love, care and unselfish acts and kind sharing define a home. We call home 'sweet home'.  A home is place where we get love from our family members. Thus, the poem "A House, A Home"  clearly distinguishes a house from a home in terms of its value.
